Rock Band essentially picks up where guitar hero leaves off. It uses the same style of guitar used in guitar hero but also has devices that are used to play the bass guitar, and drums parts to songs as well as sing through a microphone. Rock Band allows up to four players to simulate the performance of popular rock music songs by playing with controllers modeled after musical instruments. Players are scored on their ability to match scrolling musical notes while playing instruments, or by their ability to match the singer's pitch on vocals.
Players with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions can interact through both online and offline multiplayer capabilities. In addition to the 58 core songs included on the game disc, over 1000 downloadable songs have been released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii versions, with more added each week.
I have single-handedly watched how the game Rock Band has rapidly spread through the homes of people I know. This has become an extremely popular game. The development behind the game was based off researching what kind of people will be able to use this and what age groups to segment to. In astonishment, I know people from the age 4 to 45 years old using this game! The game is easy to use, while still be able to be competitive. They used many different colors and backgrounds to give the game a flashy look. The advancement of technology is pretty neat to see how realistic a game could be and also how fun and different it is!
ReplyDeleteI once played Guitar Hero and totally sucked at it. Ever since I have always said that I can't play that game to save my life. Video gaming trends have changed a lot in the past years. We went from Grand Theft Auto to the interactive games such as G.H. and Rock Band. It is these types of games that will change our picture of gaming. Good topic.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who is not interested in video games at all I really enjoyed this post. I’ve played both Guitar Hero and Rock Band and had so much fun. I agree with what Alisa said above about Rock Band speading through homes of people she knows. Break out either of these games at a party and most of the people in the room will be into it. Much like Guitar Hero, Rock back appeals to a huge amount of people ranging from children to adults because we all have one thing in common – we love music. This game lets people get involved, relive their pasts, or fantasize about what might be. Good post and a very fun game.
