Board Games vs Electronic Games
I remember the day and age about 20 years ago, where handheld games were cool. Also, there was a time, where family gathered around the table to play Yahtzee! or Trivial Pursuit. It was a routine for our family to head to the shore and wouldn't you know, the grown-ups would sit around the table with their adult beverages and play Trivial Pursuit. I wasn't a grown-up, therefore, I was sent to bed. Those simpler days have long been gone. Who has time now to sit around and play board games when you can be doing other more important things. I remember my first handheld game. It was the Sega GameGear. It had color and the buttons were simple. Only issue was it needed a ton of batteries, some things never change. Nowadays, you can have video games that are full of old time board games. I couldn't tell you how many board games were haulted by a disgruntled teen, clearing everything off the board. RISK, in my opinion, was one of the best strategy games ever devised. Needless to say, there weren't many games completed because those tiny armies would go flying off the board!! Take a look at just Trivial Pursuit alone, how many different versions there are!! http://www.hasbro.com/trivialpursuit/anniversary/

Being from a different generation, specifically growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, electronics were not that popular yet. Playing the board or card games (such as, Uno) with my family or friends, they are some of my best memories. Sure there were fights sometimes between my siblings and me, but it was just a part of growing up. As far as not having the time to sit down with family to play a board game, I think it is a matter of making the time for family.
