LISTEN HERE WII, your graphics are terrible and your games are not that great! So let the the PlayStation 3 take over. Sorry I'm just venting on how much i dislike the Wii. PlayStation Move should be coming out sometime in the near future, and i can't wait until it does. For one thing PS3 Move is going to awesome games, and graphics to go with the system, there for making the PS3 always a better choice, and yes your still going to have to MOVE!!! here's the best part theirs no wires between the controllers so yeah you can actually move like a crazy person, with out snapping the wire.

I agree with you that the Wii for how expensive it is, lacks many features that should be capatable with your whole entertainment sysyte. One I can not connect movie dvd or artist dvd to to this. That was a big turn off for me and I am not a big video gammer. My son has more features with his PSP then the wii it seems. I will also look forward to the new PS3 and hopefully it can include better art, technology that is better for entertainment and the whole family.
ReplyDeleteI personally have really enjoyed reading your groups blog this semester. Growing up, I was really into video games. Personally, I have never owned a PS3, but have played the WII so I have really nothing to compare to. Although from what I’ve seen, the graphics for the games on the PS3 system are way better than the ones on the WII, I believe that the WII is more interactive. Scientifically, video games will keep advancing and the statistics for the gamers themselves will rise as well. Culturally, more and more people will prefer to stay at home and play these games rather than going outside. And artistically, the graphics for these games will continue to advance. It will get to the point where you may feel like you are really inside the game.
ReplyDeleteI think the WII is a great system for what it is trying to accomplish: entertaining children and their families. PS3 is trying to accomplish something a bit different: entertaining hardcore gamers and adults who are looking to up the quality of their home entertainment center. I have all of the systems and I use them all for different things. When I want to play a game with my 5 year old daughter, I turn on the WII and we bowl or do exercise on the WII Fit. If I want to watch a Blu Ray or play a RPG with realistic graphics, I turn on the PS3. If I want to play Fable 2 (because thats really the only reason to have an XBox360) I turn on the 360.
ReplyDeleteI have never own a WII or a PS3, but what I have gather from the comments is that you are more active compare to the PS3, I know people who have used the WII as an exercise equipment and have lost weight. This is an advantage to the consumers and about the play station; it keeps the consumer more entertain. The important thing here is that these technologies are mostly for entertainment, but it has it down side, people are less active today and if we can get something to entertain and make us active than I say, we will benefit both ways
ReplyDeleteI personally agree with you. After having to sell this junk system for two years I can’t help but talk people out of buying and go for the PS3. The Wii is basically good for those people who don’t want play video games. Virtual bowling and baseball are all well and good but those aren’t true video games. When I play a video games I want a fantasy world with weapons and challenges, not something I could do in reality. For that matter, if you want to go bowling, then you should go bowling in a real lane, not in your living room.
ReplyDeleteTechnology will continue to advance videogames in the future. The WII does not have good graphics, but it was the first game that you could control by movements. The PlayStation Move looks like a copy of the WII, but it will have better graphics and games designed for adults to play. Society will benefit from videogame manufacturers trying to one up each other because the systems will continue to get better. They will also benefit because they will get people active. The PlayStation Move seems like it will be very popular when it first comes out just like the WII was. Eventually moving will be a main part of videogames in the future.

How good do the graphics have to be for Mario to look good? Most people forget that each system has a target audience. The Xbox360 is designed for those who want to play shooting games, Racing games, and sport games. The Wii is designed for children and family party games. The PlayStation is designed for the broadest market covering the other markets. Kids do not care about how realistic the graphics are. With Wii games they focus on making the game fun for the player. The other two focus on graphics. As for the motion based technology concept. If Sony was able to develop a true competitor to the Wii motion they would have been able to a long time ago. As for the cord issue, that is only a problem on the the nunchucks that come with the system. You can buy wireless one's to bypass the cord problem. As for the Xbox and PlayStation their motion controls will most likely always be an add on that you have to buy separately.
ReplyDeleteI do know that the video game industry is growing exponentially, and is becoming more popular than ever. A big part of that is consoles like the Wii. I know some people who have never played a game in their life, but ended up buying the Wii and falling in love with it. The Wii standardized the whole motion control idea, but unfortunately for them it is starting to be incorporated into other gaming consoles with better graphics and more power. I remember the first time I picked up and used a wireless controller, I was ecstatic. No more tangled cords! I wonder what the future of video game consoles will look like. Will we even have controllers?
ReplyDeleteThe Playstation Move looks like it can do a lot for a lot of different people. I will have to disagree though, the Wii is more beneficial to society than the PS3 though. Case in point, the simple and intuitive controls in games like Wii Sports. Wii Sports allowed disabled, elderly and anyone who has never participated in a sport the opportunity to compete. The Playstation Move looks like it requires full body movement which can be an issue for some people. Wii Sports on the other hand, allows you to bowl, with full motion, without getting off your couch. It also allows you to swing a bat while still holding a cane with your one hand and Wii boxing can allow you to fight Mike Tyson if you are crippled from the waist down. Overall, the Wii can and has helped more people than this Playstation Move could ever do.
ReplyDeleteAnother comment on Playstation Move, I think it's a great idea, but like many people I don't really think I'll buy one. The key to this is the fact that anyone who has been involved with video games knows the possibility of failed accessories. Examples of these include the Power Glove, SegaCD, Sega 32x, and any of the larger more expensive light guns, the Menacer and the Super Scope Six to be specific. The biggest problem with these accessories is that even if the interest is there for more games, publishers still quit on them, growing bored with developing certain styles of games for too long.
